SINGAPORE — A 40-year-old man was charged with voluntarily causing grievous hurt on Thursday (Aug 22) after a 67-year-old man allegedly died from injuries sustained during a fight.
Court documents showed that Zubir Mohamed had purportedly pushed Sivarajoo Pitchay Pillai to the ground and punched him in the face at a back alley of Geylang Road, causing him to suffer a skull fracture.
Zubir was taken out of remand to assist with investigations and is not represented by a lawyer.
The police said in a press release on Wednesday evening that they were alerted to a fight along Geylang Road at about 2.35pm on Aug 3.

Zubir had previously stolen cash cards, a bicycle, a mobile phone and misappropriated a watch and a ring that he was entrusted to keep.
His case will be heard again on Aug 29.
For voluntarily causing grievous hurt, Zubir can be jailed for up to 10 years and fined or caned.
If found guilty of committing theft, he can be jailed for up to three years or fined, or both.
